Sundance Green Policies
Green products and buildings
Take a close look at the man-made environment of Sundance. A Green building policy guides all new development and remodeling projects. For example, the Spa at Sundance—one of our most recent projects—contains many environmentally responsible building products, including low VOC paint, water-saving devices, energy-efficient lighting and heating, wallboard made from sunflower seed hulls and the use of trestle wood lumber salvaged from the Great Salt Lake.
Green purchasing
Feel good while you stay here knowing that all Sundance
departments purchase environmentally responsible products. The store always carries the work of artists who make items from recycled materials. Lodging purchases deck furniture
for the cottages that’s made from 100-percent recycled milk jugs. Our restaurant
and catering teams use organic produce and products, as well as chlorine-free
products such as paper cups and coffee filters.
Recycling
Visit the Sundance glassworks. Because recycling
glass in Utah presents its own set of challenges, Sundance Resort installed its
own glassworks kiln. Now wine and other glass bottles are recycled into decorative
art and housewares for use around the property. Also, along with the usual resort
recycling—cans, paper and plastic—Sundance also recycles the unusual:
computers, ski poles, kitchen grease, videos and tyvek envelopes.
Restoration Projects
Enjoy the ski slopes and bike and hike the trails responsibly. When unavoidable
wear and tear takes place each year, Sundance mountain staff members implement
a mitigation project to restore the mountain to its natural state by laying
erosion blankets and restoring vegetation where seasonal land use has altered
the terrain. Call 1-801-225-4107 for
